GUINNESS 1986

World's biggest tie

In 1986 from an idea of Umberto Sala, founder of Tecra s.a.s. and T.C.S. s.r.l., was made the tie that the Guinness World Records™ in 1987 certifies to be the biggest tie in the world. This tie is a a traditional tie overstated 30x.

That tie was weared and exposed at the Torre di Pisa on January, 6th 1987.

The features of this tie are:
Length: 43,90 meters
Width big base: 2,70 meters
Width little base: 1,20 meters

It should be dressed by a man tall 54 meters with a neck of 12 meters!
The fabric due to production needs is 100% nylon. That fabric was dyed, printed, lined. The tie is made of three part and there is a label of 2,40 meters lenght with the brand "Designed by Umberto Sala". All the seams were hand-made.
Today the biggest tie in the world is at our headquarters in Como.

A second exposition was made in Como after 20 years from the first in the location of Villa Olmo on February, 23-24th 2008.
This exposition was entitled to the 100% Made in Como Tie in which Umberto Sala took part during the conference with key people of the Como-tie-world like the president of the Industrial Union of Como and the assessor of commerce and fashion of the city of Como.
